Sean,

Thanks for the link. I will be interested in a set including the forming. Will you let us know when or should I contact tampabaysteel directly?

Stefan

I will have final pricing and ordering information by the end of the week. I have a little arranging to do to make certain that all the MechMate particulars are in order and the forming quote/finished product I receive matches Gerald's specs. I also need to just triple check the dxf profile files with Gerald one last time to make sure the supplier is on the same page! Hold tight, I will have a phone order in package ready soon. Sean

. . . . and I am frantically doing last touch-ups to drawings because they will be cast in stone (or the modern equivalent - burnt into steel).

Sean,

Thanks for your efforts on finding this source. I am interested in using them also.

Ken, I think Sean is going to have the bending included.

Hi Sean,

I think I'll have the cash to order the laser cut bend parts. Did you ever get a final price from tampa bay steel. I will need to get mine shipped to Miami.

Stefan, Haiti

sailfl Sun 06 January 2008 15:33

Stefan,

Sean may not look at this before he leaves town for a week.

He has been working on a new place in Orlando. Can you wait a week?

Nils

stefanv Sun 06 January 2008 19:26

Nils,

Sure, I'm not in that much of a hurry, there are many other parts to buy and build,.. :)

thanks

Stefan

Nils,

I would like to purchase a set and shipped to Los Angels.
How much would be the shipping?

If you can all wait until the end of the week, I should have new and great pricing for all. My local supplier just purchased a new 5x10 laser and is working on pricing for me. To get the best price, I would like to run at least 5 sets of parts. How many are interested for fairly immediate delivery? Within the next 30 days? Let me know. I will most likely run a few extra sets to keep on hand.
Sean.

Sean,
Let us know the pricing as soon as you get it. :)

kwang90020 Mon 07 January 2008 08:26

Sean,
I'm interested in immediate purchase.

I would be interested,

Sean, steel supply is limited here in Haiti. While I think I can find most of what I need or close, I won't be able to get the main beams. Do you think Tampa Bay is the place to inquire? I need to do 12ft solid surface sheets, so I'll need 2 14ft long main beams. New or used, as long as they are straight. Any idea, or should I just start calling steel suppliers in the Miami area.

I appreciate your opinion,

Stefan

Stefan,

There must be some place in Haiti that has salvaged steel or even new steel. Check the boat yards. I think the beauty of the design of MM is that the materials are more easily obtained. If you have not noticed, others have obtained their steel from salvage yards. The steel just has to be straight. It doesn't matter if it is used!

Before I would purchase the steel from Tampa Bay, I would check a local source. If that turns into a dead end, I would then check Miami.

I would suspect that some place in Haiti you will find your steel.

Good luck.

Nils,

Let me do some checking. I'll report back after.
Thanks :)

Stefanv,

What do you manufacture in Hati? I have a chain of retail stores in Michigan and Ohio. I have had very good luck with paintings and the wire furniture. Also, I would never order that type of product in a quantity less than a container.

I am always interested in developing relationships with new importers. E-mail me and I can give you an idea of what I am looking for.

I may be interested also but have to do a little more research in the next couple of days.

Hi Greg,

Sorry, I was off-line for a few days. Just send you an email. stefan@maximasa.com
Probably in your junk-mail :)

Sean, when we get to ordering the laser cut and bend parts, is it hard for you to add a piece of 30" of cold rolled flat 1/4 x 4 tool steel to my order? I like the way your Z axis turned out. If you need to mail order it, I can probably get it myself. Just that my freight forwarder tends to misplace or forget the small packages at consolidation,...
I have a machine in my factory shop to grind planer knives I think it's fixed at 60 degree angle. I'll have to check that on Monday. If not it will make for a nice "automatic" grinding of the Z plate. If so, 24" would be enough. Come to think of it, the machine only goes up to 24".

I will certainly check on this for you. CR flat should not be a problem. sean

pafnc Mon 11 August 2008 10:32

stefan did you run any extras and do you still have any

sailfl Mon 11 August 2008 14:34

Paul,

I don't think Stefan has been active lately. I sent him a PM about the laser parts and I did not hear from him. He is in Haiti.
