Does dust get stuck in V-Rollers or on the rails?

Anyone has had problems with lots of dust on the wheels/tracks?

Or, does the Dualvee system really doesn't mind dust?

Some plastics (making static electricity?) do sometimes attach themselves to the rails and form a thin "crust", maybe 0.5mm [0.020"] thick, but it flakes off before it gets any thicker. Never had to stop a job because the rails needed cleaning. Have however had a buildup in the z-rack while cutting a "sticky" plastic and not having any dust extraction at that time.

I have eliminated most of the sticky plastic issues with Table Saw "slick surface" coating. It's called DRY COAT and has been great in helping keep the track "self clearing".
Otherwise...no issues - Like designed :)

Maybe if one polishes the V rails it might help as well to minimize built up?

Also I think that for one wanting to use felt wipers or something of the kind, you would need to polish the tracks or at least take off the "big" scratch marks that the grinding disk leaves. "Fresh rails" are probably too abrasive for felt wipers.

Sure, the smoother the rail, the less chance of that thin crust forming.

When the grind disk is set down "flat" (touching the big wide face) it leaves a very good finish. It depends on patience. :)

By set down "flat" you mean the whole diameter (or chord) of the disk touching the rail while grinding the 45deg chamfers?

When I ground my rails the problem I had was they became very polished before I was ready. When this happened the grinder stoped cutting away metal. I needed the "big" scratches so several times during the grinding process I dressed the wheel. The dresser needs to be the kind with the spinning washers, not the stone type :(, all it did was polish it more. When I had nearly finished I put one of the worn out wheels back on the grinder, readjusted the skate so the wheel made 100% contact with the rail (like Gerald said) and polished the rails to almost a mirror finish.:D

I think the felt wipers will be the answer to any dust buildup, although for me it is not a major problem. I currently wipe my rails down with an oily rag about once a week. The oil seems to just breakup the thin black buildup as the rollers continue to roll back and forth. My plan is to make the felt wipers in such a way as to create a guard for the rollers. I'm considering a round piece of felt with the end cut to a v then put in a small metal pipe, spring loaded to the rail with a small hole in the top for an occasional drop of oil). :)

J.R. your idea sounds great, and thanks for the ideas.

Gerald did an isometric sketch for a protection casing for the wheels and it had great looks plus a host of features. I did not find it though, it's somewhere in the deepness of this addictive forum. I'll find it and post it here.
