Hi all,

A bit vague, but a local auction site has a new Toshiba VFS11S 2.2kW 230V 1ph to 3ph.

While I haven't decided on router v spindle yet, this might seem like a cheap way into the spindle drive.

Question is, will this drive the 2.2kw Chinese spindle that many seem to be using, or do I need a little headroom.

My workshop power supply is single phase 230v.

As I said a bit vague but I can't pass up a bargain.

Cheers,

Doug

Yes, that appears to be a good match to a 2.2kw spindle. There is no need to oversize a VFD if you are within its normal specifications.

You will have no problem with that VFD, they are designed to give the rated current. Only thing you need to look is if it will supply the needed 400Hz for the high frequency spindle (24.000 rpm) or 300Hz for 18.000rpm.
and as I see in datasheet it says
OutputFrequencyRange 0.5-500Hz (default 0.5-80Hz,MaximumFrequency30-500Hz)

so it should be ok.

Make sure you specify the working voltage of the spindle when you place your order.
