The "Soccer" world cup is 2 weeks away still.

Right now we have more important football to be played. It is half-time in the final game between the Pretoria and Cape Town rugby teams. (Blue Bulls against the Stormers) in the Super 14 (http://www.super14.com/) Championship. We are behind on points . . . . . :(

After this game, we will turn our attention to the FIFA World Cup :)

Dennis, you can manage without the helmet if you discard all the plastic (http://news.sport.org/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/Football-Protective-Grear.jpg) that is worn under the clothes! :D

Helmets, in these situations (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xvMFHXcd0yQ), would be dangerous!

Pablo, you guys are most welcome in Pretoria! It's winter here now, but the temperature is very moderate but they can expect frost in the morning. UP has excellent facilities which will no doubt increase your team's chances. We even had some light rain last night which will help to keep the temperatures up.

And now, for a better subject: BLOU BULLE BO!

If there are any Stormers supporters: Hoe se mens dankie? (soos gesing deur Jurie Els)

If there any Lions supporters left: Anybody south of the Jukskei is now free to join the Blou Bulle.

Rugby is not football! Football (or soccer) is for prima donnas! (Sorry Pablo!)

American football consists of small men playing in excessive padding and protective gear and is only understood by Americans.

In rugby, the only protective gear is a scrum cap to prevent cauliflower ears and underpants.

Joking... I do like rugby, my son is learning to play it at school, last time I went to stadium to see a rugby match Los Pumas defeated Wales.

And lets not forget, in 2012 we will play each other on the Tri+1 Nations :)

Kobus, no man, this is GROSSSSSS, this is what we used to call this TEIN OPS. This is an East Rand Lions supporter in Blou Bulle disguise, the RED lips are a dead giveaway.

a tie with the group strongest team is always good news, the US team did not played a good match, it was a tie mostly due to a HUGE error of England goalie.

At least your football team did better than your rugby team who lost both tests to Scotland :-)

I find it very amusing hat Engerland have not qualified yet - the media are getting all uptight and suggesting all sort of reasons why they are not strolling into the final.

But some of the jokes are good.

Engerland are to get a new coach -they will board it at Heathrow on Friday

Pablo, as the song says, we are not crying for Argentina. In fact we are quite happy that Maradona got a lesson.

PEU
Sat 03 July 2010, 21:52
He deserves a lesson?
He was the best player of the last century, its now clear that he won't be the best coach and its clear as water that he is no lifestyle model to follow, but I don't understand what lesson he needs to learn.

He needed some humility and modesty after he arrived here as an arrogant, irritating little man with crazy demands (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/worldnews/article-1280607/Diego-Maradona-demands-1-600-luxury-toilets-World-Cup.html).

Thats not crazy, thats the same other teams do, because Maradona is such a legend he is the attention getter, from the same article:

The Brazilian team demanded their pool be heated to exactly 32 C by the time the players arrive at the Fairway Hotel in Johannesburg.

Hotel marketing assistant Ariska van der Westhuizen also said the squad would bring along two of their own Portuguese chefs, but 'would not be taking over the kitchen'.

They also ordered hot coffee and cookies - but said that there was to be no chocolate.

The Mexican players, who will stay at the Thaba Ya Batswana lodge near Johannesburg, requested their own priest who will conduct services during the tournament in a church on the premises.

The Italian team has flown in specialist gym equipment ahead of their arrival and will bring their own pasta with them from Rome.

Managers for the New Zealand team have enquired about arranging golf lessons for some of their players during the tournament.

These demands contrast starkly with the more budget requests from the Slovakian players - who simply asked for a pair of table tennis tables and an electronic dartboard.

At least now we will be spared the sight of Maradona running naked

Yes, that and Brazil also out is a huge relief :D

Pablo, the big difference between Maradona's demands and the list from the other teams, is that Maradona's demand was for himself and not for the whole team. We always liked the Argentinians in general, and we hoped to believe that Maradona is not a typical Argentinian. Please don't give me the feeling, that if I visit Argentina one day, all the people there are like him!

Not at all, believe me, we are very nice&friendly people. If you ever come here the barbecue is on me, just tell me a couple of days in advance, you bring some of your great SA Syrahs and I do the same with our Malbecs :)

My personal thing with Maradona is that I'm able to separate his life inside and outside the futbol stadiums, playing he was GOD I accept no arguments against that. Outside his life was a mess in every way you may think of.
Most people mix inside/outside and thats when discussions arise.
