Machines around the mechmate

I have one question, what wood working machines you guys have in your shop, my guess is we all have a hand drill, hand grinder, etc.

My question is regarding heavy iron machines, such as jointers, bandsaws, planers, shapers, sanders, table saws, etc.

Also it would be interesting to know what would you guys add if found at a reasonable price.

Me not having a single machine yet would purchase a shaper, a table saw and a belt sander.

I purchased from a Government Surplus auction a 8" Joint Plainer, Band Saw and a Table Jig Saw. Besides that I dont have much. I wish I had more but someday I will. I am hoping that the Mechmate will do all I want. Especially if I add a 4th axis.

I have a 10" table saw, scroll saw, small belt / disc sander, 12" planer, drill press and a 3 1/2 HP router table. I would really like to have an 8" jointer at some point. :)

12" power mitre saw
Shop build router table. double as mini jointer planner.

Combination machine would be first on my wish list.

I am a Wood/Metal kinda guy but a belt sander would be the first thing on my list. I would have to say I turn it on at least once a day. For sharpening tools and knocking something down just a little.

I have a ShopSmith, 9x30 Bridgeport Knee Mill, 33 Gal Air Compressor.

ShopSmith-is expensive when new but cheap if you want to restore one. After 40 years it still uses the same parts that are in the new ones. Great Support. 5 tools in one and it is on wheels so all the dust makeing is done outside in the lawn. http://www.shopsmith.com/

The knee mill is a awesome piece of machinery. Weighing in a 2,400lbs it can make accurate dado's in the hardest woods with ease. Drilling is like childs play to the thing. Might be a little overkill but I picked it up for cheap and restoring is was easy and cheap.

Anybody ever attempted to build an edgebander that works with hotmelt glue?

i have seen a hot air type but not a glue melt, hard part would be controling glue flow

Ditto on the Shop Smith. I have two. I also have about every thing they make to go with them. (One setup for turning is for sale :D ) .

I pretty much have a machine shop instead of a wood shop.
