Hi guys, after long period of lurking here I have finally decided to start the build.
Danilo from Novi Sad has started to, so I hope we will be of great help to each other.
Here are some pictures of my progress so far.
Best regards to all members

Looks like you had already got everything figured out. I bet you will make dust real soon.

Keep em coming!

Hi Milan

Are you building two MechMates, or is the second one for Danilo?

I build my own but, Milan made 2 sets of laser cut parts and I got mine yesterday from him.
Becouse I injured my foot while moving those C chanels, he will be the first to make dust :)

Ken, thanks for those encouraging words. Put your bet on 2 months :), and i would be happy if you win.

Kobus, this is not my workshop, but from my friend. I am working with Al construction profiles and ACM panels in my workshop.

Gerald , the second one is for Danilo who is electronic guy, and has forgotten how steel can be heavy.

Great start for sure!

Good set-up on the wheel cutter/slitting saw cutting down the rails. You will be able to get close to the 1.1" tall hieght, then a light grind is all you'll need. Props to you guys!

hi guys, havn't posted for a while, but have been present almost daily.
being lazy to type, thought I could use this rainy sunday morning to post few sentences.
Few things have happened meanwhile:
-steel sanded and primered,
-motors, drivers and spindle arrived (deitech.com). Took more than a month to arrive.
-table welded , rails and racks mounted, y car finished

Now, when she is at home things are starting to look better:)
Those pictures are almost a month old, but will send some more detailed, next week, with gear boxes and some other goodies.

First impression is that I will need more space for MM, as it has taken a good portion off my workshop, didn't look so before assembly:)

Now, the question for the mechmaters with vacuum table.

My table is 2070/4000 mm. I have seen very good research on vacuum pumps posted here by David (liaoh75).
David has spared a lots of time and trable for some of us. Cheers to you David.

I have founded here in Serbia two pumps, and now I have a dilema that you guys might solve:

1. Root's blower 7.5 kw, 250 m3, mitsubishi (1000 Euros)

2. Clemens Vogl ? 11 kw rotary vane, oil cooled, model VP 500 (800 Euros) from 1979

clemens vogl:

I did some googleing and have founded that Clemens Vogl WAS a producer of a can sheamers. Don't know if they were a vacuum pump producer?
What does 'model VP 500' mean?
I have tried to turn the vane by hand, was easy. As it doesn't look tidy i have some doubts about it.

Well I spent a week with Milan and helped him to paint, assemble and put the machine in motion, here are some pictures.
He still needs a MDF base board for vacuum and a couple of things.
We had some problems with cable carrier as it was not strong enought to carry the cables at that span so it will be replaced.
VFD and spindle are wired too and its singing :)
Also I messed up something in BOB design and did not have time to set the limit sensors right but it can wait a week or two until he gets other things finished.

Hello danilom. Congratulions! You've got a nice MechMate there. I hope you enjoy working with it. What kind of drivers and E-chain do you use and where did you buy them?

E-chain is some noname brand from local shop, for the gantry there is no problem and it works but on the 5 meter span and 6 heavy cables the chain bends down.

Drivers as well as motors are from Deitech M880 are drivers and motors are 9801, power supply is 40V and it is perfect for these motors, no heating at all at 5Amps. and the speeds we tryed are above 16m/min. The belt reduction is 3:1.
