Hi, I have recently bought linear rails for my machine... standard guide ways and trains for them. Ok question is im not sure what the best way to mount them is. The will be mounted on top of a 10'x2"x6" 1/8" thick steal tubing...

Should i do something like a threw bolt and bolt them straight to the top of the 2x6? i would have to plasma square holes and weld tubing in the hole so i can acheive the threw bolt scenario. It would look something like this

Second ideal just drill and tap all the holes straight into the 2x6 but will the 1/8" thickness give enough treads?

And third ideal should i just get 3/16 to 1/4 steal laser cut the holes and tap those? then bolt or sticth weld to the 2x6?

Kyle ,
Lets start with brand and style of rails. Suggest holding off on any further construction till you do more research. Look at Ezrouter (scorpion) and Kevin L.posts Then get back.Ron.

This is clearly not a MM build and this thread is probably going to be deleted. Suggest you go to CNCzone.

Everything is based off the mm i had to go cheap on some stuff... i cant afford to get my stuff laser cut so i had to modify... I didnt realize you guys wouldnt respect that..
