Thank you all for the help, especially Gerald for drawings.
I am Croatian from Opatija but I liv in Mortara - Italy (20 years). I have started last Christmas with MechMate and the reason why I have not write in this forum is my bad knowledge of English. I mus use the vocabulary when I reed the messages. Fortunately there are many photos in.
I am architectoni modeler and this is the reason why I want to built this machine. Not for cutting but for modeling. I am good in working wood and this is the first time I working iron. ( My welding makes cry) I am very sorry because my experience will not be much useful.

Technical data:
Mech Mate 150 x 200 cm
X and Y rails - V-guides on iron profile ( Pacific Bearings, v-guides + wheels + bushings cost me app. 600 €)
Racks from Chiaravalle
Some photos:

62576258
6253
I have found this problems: On the spider plat the wheel holes are distant 132mm app. and that was to short for me. look photos:
62506240
6241
Fabricas suggestion: Weld the screw in the holes, filing, drilling new holes and taping.
62556254
62436247
6248
To put surface in plane
62526244
Glass control and paralel control
62516242
Everything is smooth and perfect
6245
(I like the sound when the wheels rolling on guides)

Then I find that last 6 holes on the gauge plate not correspond with holes on the z-slide tube. I think the quotes are wrong???

Now I have to do with motors and electricity. HSD offers me a good price (480€) for MT 1073 Y6162Y0010 , 1.5 kW 220 V 18000 rpm. Am I wrong???
In my laboratory is instsled only 3.5 kW.

Its just 1 month I study the electrical components (in free time), and I want be sure in configuration which is good for me. I don't need speed but good finish. I have think about 24 gear pinion, Oriental motors 1:7.2, gecko drives 203, PDM 122.
I don't know how t instal E-stops and how to conect them, imagine for the other components. It will be a good school. I am very proud for the things I have just done. Thank you all and best wishes.

Welcome aboard and yes, you may just bring more useful experience than you think, all work is good to see & compare too.
Plus if you participate in this forum, your future usage & experience with your MM will be useful and good source to this fun community.
Congratulation on your progress and please come back some more photos as you progress !
Best of luck ;)

This is what I have done last weeks after one year pause.
11318
power sopply 2x 25 V parallel wiring, two condensers 22000uF and 10000uF.
I have try to take 9 V from toroid makeing 22 loops around. First time I have misurated the voltage it was 9 V. When I fixed it on the iron plate I have misurated again and the voltage was 6 V. Than I decided that it is better not
to risk and I buy a 5 - 9 - 12 V transformator.
I have orderd a new computer for move the motors and I ask the vendor to put on one parallel port. He puts me on PCI parallel board Kraun KR.g5 sunix 1888 with two parallel ports. It was monday.
How to find the port adress?
First problem was that my PCI bord was not enabled PnP in BIOS.(Bios-advanced-PCI PnP- plug and play o/s [YES]). Than I find te adress here:
11319
It was wednesday.
Second problem was that short conection E-stop was very bad and at the moments make false alarm on mach3. I have changed the wire(number 3 above). Than I forgeted to enable charge pump on pin 17 in MACH3.(I've think I dont need it because "I have not any pump on my machine".) I have spend days on google search to find the solution but the solution was in MechMate forum. The led (number 2 above) on pmdx122 is E-stop. If it lit motors dont turn. The led (number 1 above) is the heart of pmdx122. If it don't lit nothing moves.
11320
Friday finaly I turn first motor. What a lovely sound it has.:D
11321
Thanks to all !!!!!!

two tipe of pinons - 24 and 35 teeth
11347
I wontn to put 35 teeth pinon but I can because is to big. My rail is to high.
11348
Can I alarge the hole on the picture above??? I need only 3mm!!!
1135011349
Or maybe is better to change the design of motor plate?!?

I see no reason why you can't extend that slot; it's a guide and it isn't load bearing. In fact, although it wouldn't be as pretty, you could likely extend it right to the edge of the plate.

Two other possibilities: Cut off the tab for the other (hinge) bolt, and weld it back on a little longer, or even simpler - drill a new hole in the gantry below the existing hinge bolt hole.

The last solution is the simpliest and probably the best,
Thanks

On MM #5 I had to relocate the pivot hole on the gantry to allow for larger pinions on a special project. Easy to do - just remember to countersink that hole!

I had the same problem on MechMate #6. I measured 28mm hight from the inside of the angle iron. The slotting of the motor mount plate took care of the problem.

vanja.ivancic
Sun 06 March 2011, 05:18
Yes, cause there is not space to do the other hole in the gantry. Than is difficult to countersink the hole now.
Other problem i have seen is to hold sloted screw head when you mount the motor.
Maybe this can be solution for pinons up to 36 teeths

Fortunatly there are meny other things to do (spindle, limit swiches etc).
Mech Mate is never finished....

I have a litle problem with Mach blue probing.Zero plate works but center finding seems to work with inches insted of mm. Maybee someone have idea how I can change the program? I have not find solution in mach forum and cnc forum.

Be sure to download latest version
http://www.machsupport.com/screens/Mach_Blue_Probing_by_Big-Tex.zip

It should have the metric/inch check with GetOemLED(801) in tool zeroing, but I also don't see it it the PROBES section for center finding.

Here is the screenset which one user on cnczone changed to metric, try this one but be sure to have a finger on a RESET button if anything goes wrong. just copy this file to Mach directory and load it View->Load Screens.
cnc.rs/mechmate/MachBlue_probing_metric_version2.set

this is the thread on cnczone where I found it
http://www.cnczone.com/forums/mach_wizards_macros_addons/100594-mach_3_tool_setter_big-tex-7.html

Also if you want to check the button script, go to Mach3 menu... Operator->Edit Button Script and click on a button you need.

Pozdrav!

I think that this should solve it faster:

go to Operator -> Edit button Script , click on a button for center finding, look for a line that says
" XNew = Xcurrent - 3 'probe 3 inches to left "

just change the number 3 with amount of millimeters you need, you have 3 more occurrences of this command, for x+ , y- and y+

also edit other buttons to you liking !

Last work I've done was a landscape for archittectural modeling.Time of milling was 5 hours. I was afraid what to do if I must stop the machine in the midle of the work, How to find a zero position and countinue.I have put two cuper plates on the angle of base table to find a zero position (mach blue screens).
Whatever hapens I can find the same zero position in this way and continue
using "run from here" mach3- option. If I start to work in the center of the base table I can Write the DRO coordinates x and y to be shure that my zero point is the same.Am I wrong?

Hi Vanja, that is a much needed addaption the Mechmate, your understanding is correct about the offset and the zero finding, i have also added the x/y probing to my mechmate, on long carving time projects i also put a V bit into the collect and mark the X and Y positions on the outer parimeter of the material, i guess I will do that untill i am more knowledgeable about what i am doing.
