Hi....
I use a PMDX 122 and mach3 and would like to switch my Makita router on ( when program start) and off (when I am and the end of the code).

I have a solid state relay and 5.7 Volt powersupply
Do any body have a diagram and a mach pin setting for me?

Thanks
Retief

Is your SSR compatible with 5.7V? I would make sure it does not need 12V or 24V before you go ahead with this. 5.7 might also be too high for a 5V SSR? Check the datasheet first.

Hi Retief, nice to see you here!

You might find your answers in here:

Solid State Relay (SSR) for switching Router under control of Mach3 (http://www.mechmate.com/forums/showthread.php?t=290)

Retief,

Have you finished building your machine? The reason I'm asking is because mine operates the way you wrote. I didn't have to do anything special. I just wired it according to Gerald's diagrahm and used SheetCam and Mach 3 and it switches the router on and off.

PS. My brother visited Stellenbosch and fell in love with your home town.

Hi Gerald
I need more help with the port and pin setting in Mach3
How do I tell Mach that I have the router on J8-1 and J8-2?
Thanks

Retief, I don't quite understand this 5.7V power supply that you mention. Is this the voltage level offered by the USB port of your PC when you connect it to J12 on the PMDX?

Anyway, whatever power you feed to the the PMDX (on J11, J12 or J8 pin 5), the output levels of the PMDX are always 5V and okay for driving the SSR. The SSR does not get any other power supply.

Hi Goug
Jip - my small router is running well - just need to get it to start and stop with my g-code:)
I use Vectric but will have to edit my code to get the start and stop command in before I send this to Mach

Hi Gerald
My 1st try was on J7 with the 5V+ powersupply
Now I have used your diagram and connector the SSR onto J81&2
I still need help with the mach pin setting?
Thanks
Retief

Hi Retief, I thought the Mach3 setup was described in the linked thread, but thanks for pointing out that it wasn't. It was actually in JR's thread and I have copied it over to: Solid State Relay (SSR) for switching Router under control of Mach3 (http://www.mechmate.com/forums/showthread.php?t=290) See the last couple of posts there now.
