Ok, got another newbie question. I was wondering how a CNC Router makes a square hole? Obviously a rotating bit can't cut a hard corner. Right now I firgure I will have to make my cutouts using a jigsaw, but this seems very imprecise. Also, I can use a hydraulic press for aluminum sheet, but not sure it will work with plastics. Any Ideas or suggestions? |

Probably the best solution would be to design with the limitations of your machine in mind. Square holes in plastic, waterjet comes to mind, but wow, the difficulty and cost... Maybe using router, smallest dia bit possible and filing square. I guess also if you had another axis so the router head could rotate you could rout em out with a 45 deg cutter. Chuck |

Chuck, explain further your 4th axis suggestion. New to this routering thing, just tired of paying 250 and up outsourcing. I figure twenty 6"x10" panels and the mech pays for itself. and thats being pessimistic (on my sales figures). |
